IA&A Statement of Support

June 3, 2020

Black Lives Matter.

IA&A remains committed to its advocacy and fostering of diversity, inclusion, access, and equity through our words, actions, and services to museums and the cultural sector. As we bear witness to the events of the past weeks catalyzed by the indefensible murder of George Floyd, we continue to stand in solidarity with African American communities and other communities of color across our nation. We are outraged by the systemic racism that has been a part of the United States since its founding, and how it continues to manifest through acts of hate, oppression, and inequity against our fellow citizens. We must do better. Individually and collectively, we must come together to effect significant, meaningful change.

Together, we can make a difference. As we redouble our individual and collective commitments to fighting racism, here are some of the ways you can help:

  • Please register and vote — elected officials at all levels of government must reflect and represent their communities.
  • If you are able, support organizations that are working to make a difference.
  • Find more ways to help here.

Now is not the time to be silent. Together, we can help raise the voices of those who have been silenced for too long. We have much work to do, and we are committed to doing our part.
