Partnership

Hillyer Art Space and St. John's Community Services have partnered to create an internship position for one of their artists living with disabilities.  Through this program Hillyer is able to give the individual on the job arts training in the gallery by working with them to complete the same tasks that are expected of all interns.  Teaching the artist necessary social, workplace, and computer skills.  This internship occurs three times a year during the fall, spring, and summer.  Interns are selected by ART Options staff in collaboration with the gallery staff of Hillyer Art Space.

Meridian Hill Pictures and its program The Picturehouse has monthly film screenings at Hillyer Art Space created to make documentaries more accessible to DC residents and locals. The Picturehouse is a new screening series based at select indoor and outdoor locations throughout the District of Columbia. With a primary home at the Josephine Butler Parks Center, directly across the street from Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park, The Picturehouse connects people through documentary film.

The Picturehouse provides area residents access to a compelling, eclectic and masterful selection of excellent documentaries by highlighting local filmmakers and stories of relevance to the community. The Picturehouse invigorates alternative public spaces as new sites for experiencing compelling documentary films and dialogue. The Picturehouse is the place for meaningful, engaging film-going and idea exchange.
