Beers and Bluegrass at Hillyer Art Space!

Come on out to Hillyer Art Space for an event that will have you buzzed off bluegrass! At Hillyer’s first ever Beers and Bluegrass event, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the musical accompaniment of local bluegrass band The Potomac Heelsplitters, be among the first to taste Flying Dog Brewery’s Spring Ale all while checking out Hillyer Art Space’s February exhibitions including artwork from Elizabeth Holtry, David Myers and Brian Kirk. This will truly be a night of beer sippin’, boot stompin’, art appreciatin’ fun!

Hillyer Art Space is proud to present its new performance art series, Soapbox. This series aims to increase exposure to this critical, yet underrepresented, art form in Washington, DC. Soapbox's mission is to cultivate emerging talent and showcase the best that performance art has to offer.

Hidden Books: The Art of Kumi Korf

a film by Director Sam Hampton

A 30 minute documentary about Kumi Korf, who was born in Japan and now lives in Ithaca, N.Y. Kumi received a B.A. in architecture from the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and an MFA in printmaking from Cornell University. Her art involves several disciplines: architectural design, printmaking, painting, papermaking and artists’ books. Her work can be found in the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, and the Tate Library, among others.
