A decade after the end of sectarian violence, 18 of Northern Ireland's most significant contemporary printmakers present 35 works reflecting the styles, interests and concerns of the "post-Troubles" years. The Arts Council of Northern Ireland invited IA&A's president David Furchgott to select works from the Belfast Print Workshop and the Seacourt Print Workshop. Initial showings at Washington, D.C.'s prestigious Cosmos Club and IA&A's Hillyer Art Space, as well as two subsequent venues, are subsidized by the Arts Council.
The exhibition was part of the Rediscover Northern Ireland program held throughout the national Capital region and featured in conjunction with Northern Ireland at the Smithsonian, part of the 41st annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall. The accompanying 72-page, full-color catalogue defines the work, the artists, and the unusual circumstances of the current Irish cultural and economic renaissance.
