Jim Smith has a B.F.A. in painting and printmaking from the University of Kansas in Lawrence and an M.F.A. from the University of Illinois in Champaign. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in New York, Chicago, and elsewhere in the United States, and his work can be found in several corporate and public collections. Smith uses his skills as a sculptor and painter to create mixed-media architectural ensembles as well as oversize school rulers and other mundane items that play with the viewer's sense of reality and memory.
