Patrick Kirwin was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1959. He received a B.F.A. in 1983 from the Columbus College of Art and Design and an M.F.A. in 1987 from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He continued his studies with a fellowship at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Maine, in 1991. He has been artist-in-residence at the Griffis Art Center in New London, Connecticut, and the Hambridge Center in Rabun Gap, Georgia. His work has been exhibited throughout the mid-Atlantic area. Kirwin explores a variety of subjects and styles and is equally comfortable working in oil, tempera, pastel, acrylic, and watercolor.
