Robert Harmon, Jr., was born in 1941 in Portland, Oregon. He received an M.A. from Cape Cod Community College, Massachusetts, in 1982, with a major in theater lighting and set design and a minor in sculpture. In 1986 he earned a second M.A. in sculpture from the School of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He has show extensively in Massachusetts since 1982. Harmon incorporates welded steel, carved wood, paint, tape, cloth, found objects, and cast epoxy materials into his mixed-media constructions, creating images of animals, figures or tools that blend humor and an almost primitive quality in their depiction of a spiritual quest.
