Playing Dress-up: Ms.Callie Adams, from Kent, England and trained at Versace in New York City
By Emily Halonen
Even though she’s a grown woman, Callie Adams delights in playing dress-up as if she were a girl. But, who can blame her? If you had a closet filled with Versace, wouldn’t you be up for a little dress-up? Be honest…
Originally from Kent, England, Callie traversed the big pond to train in America at the esteemed fashion label, Versace. As well as packing enough clothes for a six-month stay in New York City, Callie also brought along high expectations for her training. Both New York City and Versace were overwhelmingly satisfying.
Wanting a training that would build her public relations skills and an experience that would stretch her as a person, Callie was most gratified.
“The office was so fast-paced and busy that I was able to learn a huge amount during my six-month placement,” Callie said.
Callie’s days were varied and busy. Her tasks included everything from distributing press releases to compiling monthly editorial reports and sending out editor’s gifts to screening e-mails for press coverage.
Callie also enjoyed working with Versace staff and other interns. After work was over for the day or the weekend, she would get together with fellow interns for drinks or dinners. She also explored the city on her own—jogging along the East River and sunbathing in Central Park were among her favorite pastimes.
When asked if she had any advice for future trainees or interns, she had this to say: “Just go for it,” Callie said. “Make the most of your time [at your internship,] work hard and learn as much as you can.”
