After Arrival in the U.S.
SEVIS Validation
After you arrive in the U.S., you are required to provide IA&A your current U.S. home address and home or cell phone number. IA&A has to receive this information within 30 days from your program start date on the DS-2019 form. If we don’t receive this information on time we will not be able to validate your status in SEVIS. You should contact your case manager to provide your contact information as soon as possible so he/she can validate your status in SEVIS. You are also required to inform IA&A whenever your contact information changes or if you intend to be away for more than two weeks.
Traveling Outside of the U.S.
Each trainee and intern is required to have a travel validation on his or her DS-2019 form in order to travel outside of the United States and re-enter the country. IA&A must receive your travel validation request a minimum of two weeks before the date of departure so we can confirm your active status at your training site and return the DS-2019 signed to you BEFORE your departure. Please refer to your Program Manual for more information.
Networking
Once you are in the US, don't hesitate to contact the IA&A team about connecting with other professionals in the field, contacting other IA&A participants in your area, and starting relationships with alumni currently working in your home country.
